Generations College and Career Services

Helping clarify the life path for young adults

We exist to nurture and support high schoolers to persist and succeed in college and career opportunities. Our services target 11th and 12th graders with support services for underclassmen.

Why College & Career Services?

  1. Young people need help exploring their areas of interest.
  2. Parents/guardians have competing priorities (work, other children, advanced coursework etc.) which may not allow them to spend as much working with their teen individually.
  3. Young people need support prioritizing time and setting goals as early as sophomore year.
  4. School counselors have multiple responsibilities which often leaves after high school planning to two data points: i.) ensuring young people enroll in Advanced Placement courses and ii) tracking college acceptances and/or certification plans.
  5. Navigating after high school options requires significant patience, knowledge and awareness of trends in the field.  Some parents/guardians need an intervention with their teen.  It could also be that the process has become overwhelming.

She supported middle and high school teams with goal setting, recruitment, data analysis, instructional feedback and performance management.  Recently, she reignited her consulting business to include postsecondary options after seeing some gaps while supporting her daughter as a high school senior. She began to work with her daughter’s friends and before she knew it, she was creating tools and templates to support seniors to figure out next steps.

She is a proud alum of Bradley University, Marquette University and Trevecca-Nazarene University.  She enjoys all things people, processes and practices. In her downtime, she draws, WINS Connect Four, supports Nashville Soccer Club and enjoys live concerts.

Jerriel Berry LAWSON

I am a senior at Nashville Christian School. Throughout my high school career, I haven't put much thought into what college I wanted to go to, what I was going to study and do for the rest of my life. Once junior and senior year came, I knew I needed to start applying to colleges and looking for scholarships but absolutely had no clue where to start. Mrs. Brown helped me explore my preferences on college to expand my knowledge to make informed decisions. She has taught me to advocate for myself, make college exploring enjoyable and fun rather overwhelming and stressful. Working with her has opened my mind to opportunities and I ideas I would have never thought I could reach.

Jay Brown’s leadership and dedication have been instrumental in assisting Cristo Rey St. Martin in becoming an excellent school. Her unwavering support for our school and teachers in our early years - coaching our leaders and teachers alike in a sustained way - laid the foundation for the incredible progress we’ve made, nearly tripling our college completion rate from 25% to 65% over the past decade. Through her vision, guidance, and belief in all students' potential, she assisted us in creating a culture of excellence and opportunity. Her impact extends beyond numbers—she empowers educators, inspires students, and strengthens organizations. We are deeply grateful for her commitment to our success and her lasting legacy in our community. I know we are just one of many organizations she has supported in such transformation.
